Hu Shan Yellow Buds (Harney & Sons)
Friday is Black Tea, Floral Tea, Fruit Tea, Chai and Pu’erh Review Day!
Yellow Tea is very rare. Manufactured only in China as the processes to make it are kept very close to the vest. Even in China, yellow tea has a high level of prize and mystique. I found some from Harney & Sons, and wasn’t disappointed!

Sometimes I just need to relax with a nice cup of something unusual and rare. I found this Yellow Buds tea from Harney & Sons to be quite smooth.
Visually, the leaves seem to be medium length, curled and with a light brown and light green hue set. A wonderful mix allowing me to size up this tea before I begin to drink it.
The liquor (color) of this brewed tea is a very nice yellow-orange. I would describe it as slightly lighter than cantaloupe, without it being so bold and bright.
I was surprised to find this tea’s aroma was very light. Very similar to an herbal in many ways the scent is very relaxing and not at all astringent.
The Yellow Buds tea has a very slight tail which after a few moments begins to seem lightly creamy, coating the mouth but taking its time. Without a bite in the tail, this tea doesn’t have much oomph, but seems very nice as a late night relaxer for those of us who may prefer a natural herbal flavor without added fluff.
If you like a Himalayan Tip or the lightest of Sri Lankan black teas, you’ll enjoy this one.
