After Dark Herbal Melange (Special Teas)
Wednesday is Green Tea, White Tea, Rooibos, Oolong and Tisane (Herbal) Review Day!
This herbal tea blend from Special Teas is quite simply delicious. While it may even be from the same source as Tavalon Teas‘ After Dark blend, this blend comes away with a different score.

An assortment of thin green nana mint leaves, chamomile bugs, hibiscus, orange peel shavings and rosehip blend together for a rather splendid visual. This hebal/tisane beverage brews up with a pale yellow-green liquor (color).
The aroma is an odd mixture of chamomile and hibiscus mostly, with the slightest nuance of mint teasing the nose.
Flavor wise this tea clearly has citrus notes with notable overtones of hibiscus. There’s a dryness left on the palate cause, I presume, by the chamomile. A continued hint of mint and some notes or orange round out this brews complex but palate pleasing taste.
It should be noted that Special Teas recommends a 10 minute steep for this tea. It’s also not bad iced, but do it manually. Machines don’t seem to make it strong enough to get any flavor.
